Lots of liberals are cry-eyed about the changing of the guard in Washington, fearful of renewed conservative administration, desperate at the prospect of termination of pet programs. Many are planning to flee the country; those who are not are preparing impeachment proceedings before the new term even begins. Will that help?
There really is nothing to worry about. Not much will change. There will still be war in Gaza and Ukraine, and dozens of other countries where strategic resources are plentiful. There will still be institutionalized racism, sexism, ageism, able-ism in government, business, academia and media. There will still be pollution of soil, water, and air everywhere. There will still be official corruption at municipal, state, federal, and global levels. There will still be surreptitious surveillance of the home, in public, and online. There will still be censorship of truthers, whistleblowers, and authors by purveyors of organized falsehoods.  There will still be perpetual pandemic, with more disease, drugs, and death daily. There will still be world ruled by fink-tanks of financiers controlling the exchange rate, and agencies of assassins controlling public debate. Everything will not go down the drain – status quo ante will be maintained.

Millions of liberal Americans across the nation braved lovely early fall weather to express repugnance for imperial presidency on the year’s second No Kings Day, the first having been held in springtime coincident with a military mobilization staged to celebrate the president’s birthday. Over 150 progressive groups improbably aligned to repugn the current administration’s brutal crackdown domestically, and madcap foreign belligerency.
The retread president is capricious, vicious and ludicrous as official policy shifts hourly with each mood swing. On again, off again tariffs and sanctions are shoot-from-the-hip punishment for the only powers capable of opposing American imperial hegemony while second –string nations with proven oil reserves are targeted by overwhelming US military might.
White House reactions to the protests spanned the entire spectrum from Who cares? to Protesters are un-American. Like the interim administration, utterly unconcerned about alienating a large section of the electorate for exercising the First Amendment right to petition the government for redress, right which is uniquely American. In most countries, petitioning the government for redress is a capital crime.
White House, infamously built by slaves, and originally called Presidential Palace, renamed when white workers were employed, is currently being demolished to construct a $200M grand ballroom to entertain foreign despots and local crime lords owed a favor by the regime. Perhaps, like the Department of War - the hypocritical “Department of Defense” distastefully, yet honestly renamed - Presidential Palace is a more apt moniker for the most luxurious, most secure building in the US, particularly when inhabited by a megalomaniacal billionaire.
To the hoi-polloi, billionaire equals hero for successfully scrambling to the top of the heap while billions struggle daily to make ends meet. Business closings, cut-backs, lay-offs, AI robotics taking over what jobs remain, rising prices, supply disruptions, renewed mandates, continued war, amid USG shutdown and debt over $150 trillion make an ideal launch pad for extensive remodeling into an opulent pleasure dome for the elite. Typical dying gasp of a desperate, decadent, devolved empire.
Having thrown off the yoke of crown government centuries ago, in representative America, “king” is a good thing – bed, cigarette, Elvis – why not the president?

It's 12:07 pm on the twentieth of January 2009. The capitol is thronged - everywhere is a song, and a celebration! The acid reign of George the third has just, finally, come to a well deserved end. That is cause enough right there for rejoicing from one end of the globe to the other. But what is really being celebrated?
Since November 4 simple minded rhetoric about how it's historic a black man had been erected to the presidency of the United States, soon would be moving into the White House, a government structure built by slaves, far from being a sign racial strife which has divided the country for over two centuries is ending, instead proves race is still a crucial factor in the way Americans perceive themselves.
Why so "historic" that Mr. Obama has the darkest skin of any American president so far? Do people in the twenty-first century still think that matters? Why isn't it historic a worldly, intelligent adult is taking over from a cloistered, puerile nincompoop? Why isn't it historic an honest person is taking over from a cabal of career criminals? Why isn't it historic a man is taking over from a crew of shape shifting reptilian interlopers? Why should America be so content with comparing the new president to all his predecessors solely on the basis of a superficial characteristic none of them could help having? Because comparing his virtues and abilities too admiringly with the outgoing gang of murderers, torturers, thieves and liars is "looking back", and looking back would likely lead to prosecution of some still very powerful people for war crimes and treas...
Look at the black president everyone! He's a credit to his race. Once you've had Barack you never look back!
Barack has a long row to ho, but his candidacy and election have already covered a lot of ground. The most immediate result of Obama's successful presidential bid is resurrection of Americans' trust in the electoral system. Conspirators operating the shadow government realized the American people, indeed the world, would not respond at all well to a third palpably stolen presidential election in a row, so they had the Republican party field a visibly damaged and aging candidate, then burdened the campaign with a patent wing-nut for his running mate. Even though they did commit token ballot suppression, it could only be expected such a ticket would end up also ran. Can the American public be so facile as to believe simply because the guy they wanted was allowed to win the election that it was honest? Is it so unbecredible they threw the fight?
For Mr. Obama inherits a terrible mess that is entirely of their making: the war, the economy, the surveillance, the environment, all of which is still under the control of the military industrial complex. Why would the NEOcons WANT to remain in office? It's so visible - embarrassing! The previous occupant, when asked if he had made any mistakes during his term replied It's a disappointment there were no weapons of mass destruction [for which he once cutely searched underneath Oval Office couch]. Ow! Maybe the new president will be more furniture fortunate?
Not only is the public's trust in elections restored, but trust in the entire institution of government is restored. Having given junior a chance for eight full years only to have him screw things up royally, Americans are withholding criticism of the incoming regime in order to give president Obama a chance to deliver on his pledge for change. And if you don't, it will be your fault when it all goes to hell in a handcart. Oh, and you're a racist too. Despite piecemeal promises of a camp closing and a troop redeployment, it looks as if things won't change fast or far with the new president announcing more surge for the war and more splurge for the banks. Yes he can!
Most significantly the American people, well, 84% of them, believe in Ding dong the Witch is dead! Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch! All the little munchkins are running around gleefully hugging and kissing each other in jubilation that the dark.. uh.. whiteforces of the evil empire have been dealt a stunning defeat; tonight they can don their PJsand return to the fitless slumber of their hard won complacency.

There is a long-standing tradition for a retiring commander as his last act to offer special favor to a promising underling. Over centuries, that special privilege has transmuted into a departing president’s official offer of clemency for a favored felon.
However, to confer a permanent cloak of immunity from prosecution for a mass murderer not yet charged, indicted or convicted is a novel departure into unknown waters of presidential authority. On one hand, Fauxi’s pre-emptive pardon is a tacit admission he is guilty of crimes so monstrous they may never be fully qualified. On the other hand, it is an obstruction in the path leading back to transparency, integrity, and legitimacy of government.
Will Americans honor the last testament of a vacuous, venal, degenerate holding fellow vampirates above and beyond the law? Or shall We the People tear up such fatuous foolscap and proceed with prosecutions of perpetraitors – that the truth be known to all?

In a fierce, divisive, televised rant, Bidden declares 75 million “Chump supporters” a dangerous threat to democracy, violent extremists, fascists.
To declare 75 million Americans “dangerous” is not a threat to democracy, it is already undemocratic. Like it or not, the chief executive serves ALL Americans, under US constitutional law. When the executive fails to uphold the law, representative democracy is dead.
Since the accession of the Bidden regime, the greatest part of public violence has been perpetrated by leftists. From critical race theorists, to abortion rights advocates, to eco-warriors, progressive wing criminals shroud themselves in righteousness as they violate the rights of others. The January 6 protest at the nation’s capitol, though disorderly, destructive, and deadly, is much-referenced as a result of being the sole recent example of organized public conservative wing violence. The protesters were out of order, one of their number was shot dead as congress critturs cowered in fear, or fled. Why did not one democratically elected representative have the courage, and honor to greet the protesters and initiate dialog? Are they not also service members expected to expose themselves to risks in the service of their country?
America, in these last two years, has seen more extreme policy than previously under Chump. In all sectors of society, stricter regulations, tighter controls, harsher penalties are imposed for an ever-broadening field of ordinary behavior in the home and on the street. Pandemic, surveillance, censorship, graft, warfare have all ramped up under the Bidden regime. No WONder They declare people are extreme!
Fascist? Really? Sure, there are groups of neo-nazi racist militias playing army camp, spouting rancorous liberation rhetoric. However they are a tiny minority of American conservatives, the rest of whose political aspirations are to have honest governance, business opportunity, and to be left the fuck alone. That is in stark contrast to the progressive march of social engineering imposed to make people be safer, nicer, more uniform, more obedient.
Alienating a large portion of the electorate seems impolitic, though it may be a panicky ploy to rally flagging support by reaching out to progressive extremists. Outlawing political opponents may appear appealing to partisans, but proponents of policy never predict application to themselves. It is only a step from outlawing chumps to outlawing everyone.

The resident's first and most used word throughout was "uh", he confused <commiserate> for <commensurate>, twice, stubbornly repeated the word <nukuler> and in general stumbled when nearing the edges of the prepared text. For that is what the alleged "press conference" was, a prepared speech by the resident. As soon as each prescreened question was asked, Mr. Bush said Yeh! as he remembered the answer to that question and proceeded with reiteration of his key points. Towhit:
He is doing his job, he has a job to do, he has a duty to protect America, that's his job, he has a job and he's going to do it. -- Who could blame him for doing his job?
Saddam is a murderer, a killer, he used weapons of mass destruction against his OWN PEOPLE! Saddam is a torturer, a thief, a liar, a coward, a criminal, a tyrant, a dictator. -- Takes one to know one!
Over sixty nations are involved in freeing Iraq! There are over sixty nations supporting a free Iraq! The coalition includes over sixty nations! -- Yeah, and just wait 'til Fiji, Tonga and Lichtenstein step up to bat!
Saddam's capture doesn't mean an end to violence in Iraq. We can expect more violence. There will be more violence in Iraq. -- And who would better know?
The resident explained that war in Iraq was the final option after diplomacy had been exhausted (plans for an invasion of Iraq were drawn up before 9/11), and that diplomacy is being used in regard to North Korea's noisy WMD program (is it exhausted yet?). When asked about 9/11 and the possibility of collusion, he couldn't reply (pleading the Fifth). When asked about all the people in America and around the world who protest the war, he replied he made decisions to protect America, that there will be a time for politics, and he is looking forward to the debate (once upon a time in a democracy, debate PRECEDED policy..). He added a swipe at peaceniks saying that protesters were really Saddam supporters (whom will they support next?)
These premeditated, coded utterings were delivered in a breathless huff, as if the resident had just finished personally administering Saddam a hearty spanking.
All this braying about the capture of Mr. Hussein is simply more panem etcircenses. The White House spin team wants America and world to focus on the person of the tyrant, to make the same mistake that domestic dissidents and foreign adversaries make focusing on Mr. Bush when struggling against the CONspiracy. In ancient Rome, the mob was always satisfied with the blood of the tyrant, while leaving the office intact. We got him! rhetoric is window dressing. Saddam Hussein is just another mad dog, trained, armed and unleashed upon the world's poor by the United States government to foment profitable mayhem, and which ordinary Americans are expected to muzzle at their own peril and expense. The notion that collaring a smelly, desperate fugitive is accomplishing a war aim is just as ludicrous. The true aims of the war in Iraq are diverting attention from failures of domestic policy, operation of a pork barrel for administration cronies, establishment of a permanent U.S. military base in the Middle East now that Saudi Arabia is closed to U.S., and oh yeah, securing the wellheads. Thinking that eliminating Mr. Hussein will bring an end to attacks against occupation forces is folly. Even the resident promises more bloodshed as Iraq is dragged into the free world without the option of free elections which would clearly be won by Islamic nationalists, just as free elections were postponed in Vietnam twenty years ago because the Viet Cong would have won. That is why the resident foresees more violence despite the capture of the world's greatest villain (sic).
Meanwhile, Americans get Saddam for Christmas. Happy Holidays!

Ronald Reagan is dead, finally! After lingering as America's favorite skeleton in the closet for sixteen years, he passed away in the manner of corporate despots - aged, infirm, in his bed, something he denied to millions of Americans and people around the world. No one ever called him a great administrator; he was the great communicator, or to critics, the great prevaricator. He lived as a myth, and his legacy to the world is a myth. William Rivers Pitt's even-handed eulogy is correct on that point at least.
However, after decrying the mythos surrounding Reagan which were cover for his administration's policies of deregulated corporate raiding, secret wars against peasants determined to free themselves, and open ended rape of the environment in the name of "resources", Mr. Pitt goes on to perpetuate myths that he identifies as resulting from Mr. Reagan's policies: AIDS, and Osama bin Laden.
Now that George III, Jeff Davis, Hitler and Khomeini are dead, Amin deposed, While it is true that a generation of Americans is fearful of sexual contact because the scourge of AIDS, Mr. Pitt erroneously identifies AIDS as a disease, and also erroneously attributes it to a virus. Though this myth has been trumpeted ever since the first reported case of death due to collapsed immune system functions in humans twenty four years ago, the syndrome cannot be properly classed as a disease because it does not follow a predictable pattern in its victims. Furthermore, there is no epidemiological finding that definitively links AIDS like symptoms to a specific causal agent, though there is a greater correlation between toxic drugs and cold steel, and AIDS than there is with AIDS and any sexual behavior. The link between AIDS and HIV is not epidemiological, but epistemological, and that seems to be enough for most Americans including Mr. Pitt. The more the AIDS=HIV myth is repeated, the more firmly people believe it, but it is not based on medical findings.
Gaddaffi muzzled, Castro superannuated, and Noriega and Hussein are in custody, Osama bin Laden, apparently still at large, remains as the extant embodiment of evil. Like AIDS, Mr. bin Laden is purported to be the causal agent for the death of Americans, and again, the more that myth is repeated, the more firmly people believe "he did it to us". Osama bin Laden is the creation of the U.S. "intelligence" agencies, but did they just train and finance him? Or did they invent him entirely as a story to deflect inquiries into the evil doing of the U.S. empire? Is he an active terrorist running around the desert orchestrating the world's slide toward chaos? Or is he a terminally ill kidney failure patient and on dialysis? Is he the chubby smiling bin Laden on an undated videotape of unknown origin? Or is he the gaunt mujahadeen seen armed with scruffy comrades in a bleak mountainous setting? Is he the ostracized bad boy of the infamously wealthy bin Laden family? Or is he their secret agent fomenting strife to destabilize the Saudi government to make the desert peninsula into bin Laden Arabia? Is he a real threat? Is he even alive? The day after 9/11, Osama bin Laden was reported as the perpetrator. Sidestepping for a moment the ludicrous story of Arab men boarding as passengers, seizing control of four planes simultaneously at the one inch point of box cutters and skillfully steering them into landmark targets, the culpability of Mr. bin Laden himself has never been demonstrated. Though the U.S. "intelligence" community had known him for twenty years, and had interviewed him only weeks before, there was no indication that he might try to kill Americans in New York, but as soon as it happened they KNEW it was he. Since then a million separate reports, including Mr. Pitt's, have reiterated the mantra that He Did It To Us. Despite the endless litany of condemnation, and the hundreds of millions who are convinced of his guilt, there has not been one piece of verifiable evidence presented which links Osama to the 9/11 crashes. He may have gloated over the long overdue come-uppance that America experienced on that tragic day, but he didn't claim responsibility, and it isn't clear if that gloating was taped prior to or after the fact. Eventhough that doesn't mean he was not involved, according to US law he is innocent until proven guilty; unless that is we catch him outside U.S. territory where we can claimconstitutional protections do not apply. As ready as Americans are to believe that terrorists are responsible for the incidents, they refuse categorically to believe the terrorists were white Christian Americans. Faith can also mean suspension of belief.
The point is, can current myths be examined unreservedly? Ronald Reagan was not a good guy, and his political spawn are still in residence at the White House. These myths about "threats" are also the spawn of the imperial government and also need to be critically examined according to the rules of evidence and logic.

More fanfaron from the floor as the incumbent and pretender switched off doing their stand up routines to a selected TV audience. Having failed at previous attempts to stop split screening, Bush's Republican handlers had clearly instructed the resident not to smirk, grimace, look at his watch or roll his eyes as Kerry spoke. Instead, Bush held his face in a distorted mask that bespoke a determined effort to not betray his reactions to the Senator's words. Beginning one incoherent rebuttal with "I almost scowled on that one!", Bush played the emotion card - stalking around the floor hunching and waving his arms, pecking his head in a birdlike manner, affecting the chummy, I'm a regular guy like you pose, getting a few uptight laughs for his mock self deprecation.
Mr. Kerry got no laughs at all. While Bush was smug and decadent, Kerry was glib and desperate. Standing stiffly, Kerry delivered his well reasonedresponses like a cigar store Indian offering a five cent smoke. His long face only broke into a mischievous smile as Bush iterated his idiotisms, including referring to his opponent as "Senator Kennedy", and Earth as "The war we live in".
Both candidates prevaricated over various questions. Both were long on what they would do and very short on how they would do it. When asked who he would appoint to the Supreme Court Bush, after sneering that he wouldn't tell.. uh.. didn't have anyone in mind, didn't want to offend because he wanted them to vote for him, averred he would appoint someone who would not make judgments based on personal feelings or party affiliations. Kerry, while sticking to his Wrong war Wrong time Wrong place condemnation of the Bush administration, and how it had made America more vulnerable, nevertheless insisted that the Nation's, Iraq's and the world's problems could be solved by the military force of a stronger America. Both candidates pandered to the audience about tax rebates - Bush boasting that bonuses to billionaires would create jobs and Kerry countering cutely that only three persons in the room benefitted from the Bush tax cut: the resident, Kerry himself, and as he added apologetically, the moderator. When responding to questions from patent support the troops right to lifers on tough ethical questions like embryonic stem cell research, Kerry schmoozed his questioners by stating that he felt their passion and commitment. Each candidate declared the other's statements were factually false, Bush arguing the Senator's checkered voting record, and Kerry restraining himself from actually accusing the resident of deliberately lying to advance his and his friends' agenda. Asked about the Patriot act, Kerry admitted voting for it, saying it was needed but also that it needed revamping because it had the effect of abridging civil rights. Bush's rebuttal was that fighting terrorism is so important, the Patriot act is a "tool" for fighting terrorism, cutting across interdepartmental lines making it easier to "keep track of" terrorists, and poses no threat whatever to civil liberties.
The telling moment of the debate came near the end when a shaggy lady asked Bush whether of the thousands of decisions he had made during his term, he could mention three that he felt were mistakes and to describe what he should have done otherwise. After a moment's puzzlement, Bush launched into a defensive tirade, asserting that invading Iraq was the RIGHT decision, removing Sadaam was the RIGHT decision, and the war against terrorism was the RIGHT decision. It sounded as if he was avoiding the question, but he was actually answering in neg-speak. Those decisions were the three wrong decisions, but he would do it again in a heartbeat.
After the debate a banner came up on the screen asking Who won? No score had been kept, as in most debates, but it was clear THEY won, and we are going to lose, whoever "wins" the election.
No to Bush policies! No matter who Kerrys them out!

Apparently people are still having sex because there are more of them than ever. In Utah a woman bearing twins was told by her doctor that if she didn't have a C-section one of the babies would die. She declined. One of the twins came out fine, the other stillborn. Oh well, one out of two ain't bad! But not to the state, which charged the woman with murder. The media underwrote the prosecution by alleging the woman had a history of mental illness. You have to be mentally ill not to undergo an expensive and risky surgical procedure. Of more importance is that a potential life is lost to the state. It's only a step from there to requiring women to get pregnant. Recently the resident signed into law a bill that would provide for a separate felony count in cases of crimes of violence against a woman who is pregnant. Clearly a stepping stone on the road toward defining a fetus as a person in order to overturn Roe v. Wade, the bill is said by its right to life supporters to be only a ratcheting up of existing penalties to deter violence against women. How are assailants supposed to know? Pink sleeve bands? Only in the third trimester? What if she conceived the night before and doesn't even know it yet? Will all women victims be required to submit to a pregnancy test?
As millions of harm reductionists worldwide militate against drug prohibition, the U.S. drug war continues apace as a theatre of all out war. Others unidentifiable as communists or terrorists can still be killed if they can be identified as drug dealers. In Thailand for example there have been during the last year over seven thousand extrajudicial executions of alleged drug dealers. Thailand's prime minister exhorts his citizens and the world not to sympathize with drug dealers, but with gallant officers putting themselves at risk to stop drugs. Besides, says Mr. Sinhawarta, most of the killings were carried out by other drug dealers. Residents of Tulia, Texas are finally being vindicated in the scores of fraudulent drug arrests made by corrupt, racist law enforcement officials. After years in prison Tulians are now once again free to try to rebuild their shattered lives in poverty and oblivion. In accordance with a zero tolerance policy of ever escalating sternness, drug warriors have redefined meth cooking as both child abuse and terrorism because the risks posed by the practice to home and community. School officials testing students for drugs by analyzing hair samples have declared shaving illegal despite that hair friction is significant in a number of speed sports, to say nothing of wrestling. In Maine as in most states it is not illegal to be stoned, but reactionaries are bent upon closing that loophole. The U.S. congress is considering a bill which would equate a positive result urinalysis with impairment and operating under the influence. It isn't enough to be guilty of possession of a substance ON the person, but soon guilt will be tied to having metabolites of the substance IN your person. Aside from the ominous attenuation of fifth amendment protection posed by this legislation, it establishes a significant shift from guilt for doing to guilt for being.
The roots of rock n roll probably extend to the start of history, when patrists instituted mind control and lovers learned to make communication underground through art. During the ascendancy of the Catholic Church there were bans on certain scales and chords as being "demonic". Rock n roll in the 1950's was reviled by the CONspiracy as lewd and rebellious before being absorbed by the music industry. The sight of Elvis's gyrating, though fully clothed midriff was deemed too graphic for viewers; the performer was televized cropped below the waist. A retailer hot-knifed the flip side of the Rolling Stones' Ruby Tuesday single because Let's Spend The Night Together was too suggestive in the 1960's. One simply didn't hear or see fuck at all, though it was the language of the streets. Today that has changed. Art now features fuck, and because it sells, the music industry cannot ignore it. But they still have to bow to the puritanical doctrines of the Christian right and so MTVideos are bleeped and masked. Because it is the language of the streets, sometimes it is mostly bleeps. Everyone viewing knows the words represented by the brief dead spots in the sound track and everyone viewing knows that vague brown circle around the midriff actually sports a crack. No one is fooled, no one is protected. The message isn't only that sex is bad. The real message is You should be okay with someone you don't even know controlling what you see and hear.
U.S. attorney general Ashcroft is conducting a crusade to install the fucked up mores of monotheism not only on his own kind but on the world at large. Essentially, if it is pleasurable, superstitious sectarian stooges condemn it as sinful. Johnny boy is alleged to not drink, smoke, swear, dance or chew gum (they didn't say what he does with his penis, if any..). Believing those are "bad" things to do, he feels righteous as he denies others the right to do those things. John Walters, drug czar (czar - an unelected ruler known for ostentatious consumption and callous brutality. Perfect!) has averred There is no legitimate discussion of legalizing drugs. The White House has declared that because drugs are illegal, they have a duty to spend millions of tax dollars campaigning against citizens' initiatives to change the law. Can a country without legitimate discussion and with an administration determined to operate contrary to popular sentiment be called a democracy? Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction has ushered in a spate of renewed right wing interest in squelching sex wherever it may pop out. How much did they pay her? Despite the billions consumers pay willingly and legally for sexual services every year, the government has announced a draconian new clampdown on the "obscene", declaring "nothing is off the table", meaning that any graphic display of sexuality will be targeted. Despite all the squealing about removing religious icons from secular governmental institutions and rituals ("under God" was added to the pledge of allegiance in 1957 as a counterpoint to "godless communism"), there is no effective separation of church and state. The U.S. is a Christian nation, with all the horrors that implies. Christian zealots in positions of authority are abusing their offices to advance their cult's agenda against anyone who is willing to take a break from the killing to get high and have some fun.

An insightful analysis! There a couple of points I would like to add though. For one thing, this Addict them to pleasure and take away theirrights is nothing new. The CONspiracy has had six thousand years to convince people they are better off sitting in office cubicles at computer consoles building pyramids of credit than they were trudging across burning sands building pyramids of stone. It's the pyramid stupid! Why else would they put one on the dollar bill??
Also, the problem is the problem. Like magic tricks that depend upon misdirection, the problem focuses attention on the light show while secret agents are quietly spreading poison. Take 9/11 for example. Everyone was watching the spectacular fires, the gruesome desperation of the victims; there probably has never been a time when more people were raptly rivetted to their TVs. A perfect time for conspirators to reshuffle the deck. Clearly there are many people who know something about what really happened, but comparatively few know a lot about what really happened, and it may be no one knows everything that really happened. Meanwhile EVERYone knows what they were told really happened - Reds that Ayrabs took our planes and smashed them into buildings, as they saw on FOX, Blues that the crashes were an inside job, as they saw on From The Wilderness. The actual truth, if it were known, would be devastatingly horrifying to both.
One of the best methods to control people is to present them with a problem. Any problem presupposes its solution. For example: You're driving your car and get stuck in traffic. That's a problem. The presupposed solution is build more roads to relieve congestion. But that only invites more cars, more traffic jams, more problem. The way to escape that problem/solution trap is to ditch the car. Another example: By hook or by crook, Reds put a fascist dictator in control of the republic. The solution proffered is four years of hard work organizing to retake the White House with a better candidate, a better campaign. But isn't that just more of the same?
The trap is the paradigm. The thing about the rat race is even if you win, you're still just a rat. Blues, leftists, anyone who sees a "problem" with the system is stuck dealing with the problem, the system. Take a look at what leftists call themselves - "alternative", "progressive" - allowing their intent to be defined by what they oppose, always moving away from the problem. But like chickens scattering when a fox attacks, they do not move toward anything, just away from the fox. All the fox has to do is plan for that and the chicken is helpless. Sure protesters have a right to demonstrate, but then they are vulnerable to being fenced in, rounded up and caged at Pier 57. How many swore they'd never demonstrate again? Good!
It is no use fighting the beast on its own terms. The path to emancipation avoids the problem/solution cycle. Instead of being an "alternative" to what is abhorred, the future will be something new, perhaps unplanned, but unlike what we know. It is a comforting anodyne to suppose modern medicine, grid power, fossil fuels and media entertainment can be retained in a peaceful world by readjusting the system. For a while, the frog actually LIKES the warmth.. But as they say, You can't take it with you! Those who do inhabit a new world will have to relinquish the habits of the old. Where there is peace and justice there will be no cages and no explosions, but also no highways and no elections. It is up to each to decide if it is worth it.
Love and Rockets,

Mr. Islam thought he would be welcomed by the peace loving United States, perhaps because he was a popular folk singer here decades ago, perhaps because he too is peace loving. Because his "ties" to Islam, Mr. Islam is on a list of potential terrorists, and as a result is NOT welcome in the U.S. and was returned to some other country where they are soft on terrorists.
Leaving for a future rant the ramifications to democracy of a "list" of suspects that cannot be read nor appealed, let's look at the risk posed by Mr. Islam's presence in America. Worst case - he's a Manchurian candidate. Known as a gentle man - perfect cover for a deep agent - he could gain entry to locales of mass events and mastermind a tragedy to disrupt the U.S. elections and hand world dominance to al Queda. Well probably not. He could just be a terrorist sympathizer, and his support for Muslim faith based charities could have resulted in a wounded insurgent's receiving first aid instead of bleeding to death. That alone would be enough to disqualify him the benefits of treading the scared ground of U.S. territory.
No, the risk Mr. Islam poses to the U.S. is not that he will kill. The risk is he might do something to STOP the killing. It may be horrible that terrorists crashed planes into buildings, but that act did more to advance the military industrial complex and police state than a century of civil unrest in America from women's suffrage, to civil rights for blacks to the controversy over gender identity. In that regard, those terrorists (whoever they may be) are actually allied with the chickenhawks and their cronies on the boards of Halliburton and the Carlysle group. Just as American interests backed Hitler, Stalin, Noriega, Saddam and so on, al Queda receives financial support from U.S. interests via their connections with the Saudi government.
The risk is that peace may break out. Peace activists are the enemy to militarists. Just as the Espionage acts were used solely to prosecute war resisters, and drugs laws bear most heavily on the millions of Americans who enjoy puffing on a flower, the anti terrorist laws are aimed particularly at those whose abhorrence of terrorism of any kind might actually lessen the terror.
A terrorist is anyone who thinks it is okay to terrorize another, and the terror that terrorizes terrorists the most is that there won't be any terror. Does that seem paradoxical? They don't want to be out of work. No one wants that big red fire truck blocking the street if there is no fire! The U.S looks at the world and sees terrorists; what it is seeing its own reflection.

Here are some types of people who have been broadly branded by various authorities as terrorists: 9/11 truthers, schoolchildren, bloggers, homeschoolers, skateboard punks, fed-up air travellers, pot smokers, Gold Star moms, vets for peace, Code Pink grannies, Constitutionalists: First Amendment cranks, Second Amendment crazies, Sixteenth Amendment kooks, animal rights activists, gay priders, street thesbians, Earth First!ers, T-shirt wearers, critical mass cyclists, natural foodists, Ron Paul supporters, immigrant laborers, their American born kids, debt free currency advocates, election watchdogs, coin collectors, snapshot tourists, renowned folksingers, obnoxious hecklers, esteemed university professors, dispossessed Katrina victims and plenty of regular folks trying to live their lives during the insane "war on terror" who were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Succinctly, everyone who takes a public stand for peace, liberty and justice is a terrorist. If you would never think of harming another being, or simply believe people have rights, you're a terrorist! Freeze motherfucker!
Here are a few types of "people" who have never been officially designated terrorists: CIA/NSA/DEA installed dictators, ruthless corporate overlords, madcap military masterminds, self righteously censorious editors, secret surveillance spooks, paid undercover snitches, sadistic taser cops, torture cell psychologists, drug crazed mercenaries, Wall Street securities shysters, compassionless care workers, just-doing-my-job weapons technicians, industrial polluters, corrupt politicians, pedophilic priests, partisan election officials, sociopathic shock jocks, predatory sub prime lenders, unsympathetic claims adjustors, implacable tax auditors, smug racists, smirking gatekeepers and snickering thugs of every ilk.
Psychopathic savages from common brute to aristocratic war criminal are not terrorists. If you can put the screws to your fellow man without a twinge, you're no terrorist. Have a cold beer!
